San Agustín

San Agustín is in the Andes in Southern Colombia at the headwaters of the Magdalena River.  At the San Agustín Archaeological Park, not much is know about the indigenous people who created the monoliths in the 1st millennium. But settlements date back to 4000BC.  Some survived with their original paint.

San Agustín is probably the nicest part of the trip so far, in terms of climate, scenery, and accommodations, at the Hotel Monasterio San Agustín.
