La Paz, Bolivia

La Paz is the highest (12k') capital in the world. It is set in a bowl between mountain ranges, and has a system of aerial cable cars to take the residents home on the sides of the mountains.

The Mi TelefĂ©rico employees are very helpful, and if they see you standing around looking like a dummy, they will offer to help you.  This happened a lot to me for some reason.  I never transited a station where at least 2 employees weren't cleaning.

I also visited the Chaco War Museum, commemorating a war between Paraguay and Bolivia in the early 1930s, over oil rich territory.

La Paz is overlooked by Illimani, a 21,122' peak.  It is evidently a difficult climb.
